We all know that pursuing a passion like boxing is about so much more than physical fitness—it's about discipline, mental strength, confidence, and community. As your holistic health and boxing coach, my goal is to make these life-changing experiences accessible to every dedicated young person in Vista, California.
That’s why I’m thrilled to share an incredible opportunity:
The City of Vista Youth Scholarship Program!
As an approved vendor, Savage Boxing Gym is ready to welcome scholarship recipients! This program provides financial assistance to help Vista youth participate in City-approved recreational and enrichment activities—including training with us right here at the gym!
Here’s everything you need to know to take advantage of this amazing opportunity:
💰 Scholarship Details at a Glance
Maximum Award: Eligible applicants can receive up to $500 per City of Vista fiscal year.
What it Covers: The scholarship can cover the cost of your training and even equipment items.
Payment: Funds are paid directly to Savage Boxing Gym on your behalf—they are never given directly to the applicant. (not even as refunds)
The Big Check: The cost of your desired activity/items must be $500 or less, though partial payments may be awarded if we, as the vendor, allow it (be sure to confirm with us!).
✅ Who is Eligible to Apply? (Standard Criteria)
To be eligible for the standard scholarship, the applicant must meet all of the following:
Be under the age of 25.
Reside within the City of Vista's city limits.
Meet the income qualifications (check the Income Eligibility Chart in the official guidelines to confirm).
Apply for an activity/organization—like Savage Boxing Gym—that is located within the City of Vista.
📝 Ready to Apply? The Online Process
All applications must be submitted on the online portal: https://awards.vista.gov.
Make sure you have your required documents ready for the 'Uploads' section:
Proof of Vista residency (e.g., utility bill, lease/mortgage statement, or others listed in the guidelines).
Documentation proving the cost/price of your training and/or enrollment at Savage Boxing Gym. They'll typically call us to confirm.
You must also certify that you meet the income qualifications and understand you may need to provide income documentation (e.g., tax returns, pay stubs, Medi-Cal/CalFresh cards).
🚨 Important Note on Submission: Be sure to save your application as Final when you are done! Applications saved as "Draft" are considered incomplete and will not be reviewed.
🗓️ When to Apply: Scholarship Calendar
The program operates on an annual calendar. Applications are not accepted during the designated "Review Periods".
For the current Fiscal Year (FY 2025 – 2026), the months when NEW APPLICATIONS ARE NOT ACCEPTED are:
September 2025
December 2025
March 2026
June 2026 (End of FY 25-26)
All other months are currently designated as "Accepting New Applications".
